Driver Guidelines for A1 School Runs
At A1 School Runs, we are committed to the safety and wellbeing of both our drivers and the children we transport. To ensure high standards and compliance with safeguarding practices, all drivers must adhere to the following guidelines:
1. Safeguarding Responsibilities
No Gifts Policy: Drivers are strictly prohibited from giving any gifts, including money, sweets, or items, to children. This is a safeguarding requirement to maintain professional boundaries.
Passenger Assistants (PAs): If your school run involves a Passenger Assistant (PA), it is unacceptable to transport children without one. This is a significant safeguarding issue that protects both you and the children. If the PA is unavailable, contact the office immediately so that a replacement can be arranged.
Seatbelt Safety: If a child removes their seatbelt or acts unsafely, contact the office immediately. If the situation cannot be resolved, return the child to either their home or the school, whichever is closer.
2. Punctuality and Communication
Strict Timing: It is essential that you arrive at the pick-up and drop-off locations at the times specified on your school run schedule. If you are going to be late, inform the office as soon as possible so that we can take appropriate action.
Communication: If any changes or issues arise during your run (e.g., road closures or diversions), inform the office immediately for further guidance.
3. Approved Drop-off Locations
Drop-off Locations: Children must only be dropped off at the locations specified by us and the council. No child should be dropped off at any location that has not been pre-approved. Any diversions from this must be cleared with the office.
4. GPS and System Tracking
Using the App: Drivers must ensure that they use the app correctly by marking 'Arrived' and 'Passenger on Board' at the appropriate times. This is crucial for GPS tracking and helps ensure your safety. If any questions arise from the council, this data will be used to protect you.
Child Non-attendance: If a child does not attend the transport service on a given day, you must notify the office as soon as possible so we can log the information in the system.
5. Safety Protocols
Unsafe Situations: If you encounter any unsafe situations with the children, including removing their seatbelt or engaging in dangerous behavior, you must inform the office immediately. If the issue cannot be resolved, return the child to their home or the school, depending on proximity.
6. General Conduct
Professional Boundaries: Maintain professional boundaries at all times. Drivers should not engage in any behavior that could be misinterpreted. It is essential to protect yourself as well as the children by adhering to our safeguarding guidelines.
